Bayer is a pioneer in fluoroquinolones. Baytril was the first fluoroquinolone in the world approved for use in livestock and companion animals. During the original research and development of our product, as well as during the last 12 years, Bayer has generated a great amount of information on Baytril and other fluoroquinolones. This has helped the veterinary community to understand the therapeutic possibilities, mechanisms of action, and properties of this unique product.

Today, over 3,000 scientific papers document the wide range of uses of Baytril. The exceptional record of safety and efficacy of Baytril makes it the drug of choice for veterinarians to fight many of the most relevant bacterial infections.

This makes Baytril the "gold standard" among the quinolones for veterinary use.

Our responsibility for Baytril not only includes the development and the ongoing surveillance of the product’s quality. Product stewardship also encompasses monitoring animal and user safety (through constant pharmacovigilance) as well as an assessment on impact on the environment through constant pharmacovigilance. Furthermore, the susceptibility of bacteria and mycoplasma is constantly watched to detect possible changes in susceptibility.
